Understanding Our Hair
At DIAMONDLDNHAIR, we believe it’s important for our customers to understand exactly what they’re purchasing.
Our founder travelled to Vietnam to learn more about how human hair is collected, prepared and manufactured. After visiting over 30 suppliers, we gained a deeper understanding of the differences between raw and virgin hair, including how donor sourcing and texture processing affect the finished product.
Our Vietnamese hair collections are divided into two categories: Raw Vietnamese Hair and Virgin Vietnamese Hair.
RAW VIETNAMESE HAIR
What Is Raw Hair?
Raw Vietnamese hair is 100% human hair collected from a single donor and kept in its natural state.
Once collected, the hair is washed and conditioned before being prepared into weft/extensions. It is not chemically treated or steam-processed to create an artificial texture.
Because raw hair comes from individual donors, slight differences in natural colour, thickness and texture can occur between bundles.
Our Raw Vietnamese Hair:
- Sourced from Vietnam
- Single-donor human hair
- Washed and conditioned
- No chemical or steam texture processing
- Available in Natural Straight and Natural Wavy
Raw hair is suitable for customers who prefer hair that retains its original characteristics. With appropriate care and maintenance, it can be reused across multiple installations.
VIRGIN VIETNAMESE HAIR
What Is Virgin Hair?
Virgin Vietnamese hair is also 100% human hair.
The main difference in our collections is that our virgin hair is sourced from multiple donors, rather than a single donor.
The hair is collected, sorted and prepared to create bundles with more consistent lengths and textures.
Unlike raw hair, virgin hair may undergo steam processing to create specific wave or curl patterns. This allows us to offer different textures without describing them as naturally occurring.
Our Virgin Vietnamese Hair:
- Sourced from Vietnam
- Multiple-donor human hair
- Available in Straight, Body Wave and Burmese Curls
- May be steam-processed to create specific textures
- Requires regular care and maintenance, just like raw hair
Virgin hair is still real human hair. The distinction is in how the hair is sourced and prepared, not whether it is human.
WHY TEXTURE MATTERS
Is Body Wave or Curly Hair Still Raw?
This is an important distinction we want our customers to understand.
Raw hair is defined by its natural, unaltered texture.
When naturally straight or wavy hair is steam-processed to create a different pattern, such as Body Wave, Deep Wave or Burmese Curls, it is no longer raw hair in its original state.
The hair itself is still human hair, but the texture has been created through a manufacturing process rather than occurring naturally.
For example:
Natural Straight: Hair that retains its original straight texture.
Natural Wavy: Hair that naturally grows with a wave pattern, without that pattern being manufactured.
Body Wave, Deep Wave and Burmese Curls: Textures that may be created through steam processing to achieve a particular wave or curl pattern.
This does not automatically make processed-texture hair poor quality. It simply means the hair has been altered from its natural state.
